MPI Diploma in Taxation student Grace Wong Sie Kee

SIBU: Grace Wong Sie Kee, after graduating from SMK Kanowit with SPM qualifications, has decided to take the Diploma in Taxation course at MPI because this programme can prepare her for careers as tax consultants in the tax preparation and financial planning industries. Taxation is important to the functioning of any economy, usually bringing in most of the revenue a government will have available to use. It typically involves several key skills, including legal interpretation and analysis, calculations, and providing advice. There is an increasing demand for tax consultants in the market, so studying taxation gives her better employment prospects.

Taxes are everywhere in our lives; you may not realise that when you buy and pay for a service or a product, taxes are incurred in your bill.  Shared by Grace Wong that nothing in life is certain but death and taxes. Tax laws seem to get more complicated every year. That’s why there are a lot of job opportunities for people who are experts in taxation.  She chose MPI because her family recommended it and because MPI is famous for accounting courses. The accounting lecturers here are knowledgeable and engaging, and the course has provided her with a solid foundation of study in the field of taxation. It was important to me to develop relationships with the people at the institute.  MPI’s small class size is a benefit, allowing me to develop genuine relationships with my lecturers and classmates. The staff and lecturers are friendly and patient; I learn more from them; we have a great relationship; we are like friends.

Grace Wong attributed her success in study also to the conducive environment at MPI. MPI has a quiet, well-lit, and comfortable study space. MPI provides enough space for students to study, for example, in the Gail Pilley Library, discussion rooms, study rooms, etc. This allows me to find a suitable place to concentrate on study at any time, without distraction.

Grace Wong shared that her ambition is to become a tax consultant.  She hopes that she can apply her knowledge in the workplace and become a professional in the field of taxation. The study of taxation is a great challenge that constantly motivates her to break through and learn more.  Grace would like to encourage young people to embrace failure, “Failure is not the end; it’s simply an opportunity to learn and grow stronger. Everyone experiences failure, but every failure is a good learning opportunity to make us better.
