Methodist Pilley Institute, established in 1991, is the oldest private higher learning institution in Sibu, Sarawak. 1. Nursing Lecturer

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging lectures and facilitate learning in core nursing subjects according to the approved curriculum.
  • Prepare teaching plans and assessment tools in line with the standards set by the Nursing Board Malaysia and institutional policies.
  • Design and conduct formative and summative assessments such as quizzes, tests, assignments, final exams, and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE).
  • Serve as an OSCE Coordinator/Examiner, responsible for preparing OSCE questions, setting up stations, and compiling the final OSCE report.
  • Monitor and report on student academic performance and attendance.
  • Provide academic support through tutorials, mentoring, and educational counselling.
  • Actively participate in curriculum development and academic improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise and assess nursing students during clinical postings when required.
  • Support marketing and outreach activities to promote nursing programs.
  • Perform other academic and administrative tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must possess minimum Bachelor of Nursing recognized by Malaysian Nursing Board.
  • Must be a registered nurse with current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
  • Must possess a Post Basic qualification, preferably in renal, oncology, perioperative, and midwifery.
  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical working experience as a registered nurse.
  • At least 3 years teaching experience in nursing education setting.
  • Possession of a teaching methodology certificate is an added advantage.
  • Strong coordination, leadership and interpersonal skills.

2. Clinical Coordinator

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate student clinical placements in hospitals, community health centers, and various healthcare facilities.
  • Liaise with healthcare institutions, clinical instructors, and hospital management to secure sufficient clinical training slots.
  • Ensure clinical placements meet curriculum and nursing accreditation requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between students, faculty, and hospital staff to address clinical placement issues.
  • Review and update affiliation agreements with hospitals and healthcare facilities.
  • Assess students’ clinical performance through direct observation, case presentations, and skill demonstrations.
  • Evaluate students’ professionalism, communication skills, teamwork, and critical thinking in clinical settings.
  • Assist the OSCE Coordinator in setting up OSCE stations and serve as an OSCE examiner.
  • Conduct regular meetings with hospital preceptors and clinical instructors to monitor student progress and gather feedback.
  • Participate actively in curriculum development and reviews, particularly clinical training components.
  • Provide input for curriculum improvement, incorporating feedback from students and healthcare institutions.
  • Support marketing and outreach activities to promote nursing programs.
  • Perform other academic and administrative tasks as assigned.

  • Community experience or post-basic specialty in Obstetrics Nursing and Paediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing or Gerontology and Medical Surgical Nursing is an added advantage.

3. Clinical Instructor

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and guide students during clinical procedures, ensuring accuracy, safety, and adherence to clinical protocols.
  • Demonstrate nursing procedures and skills prior to student performance when necessary.
  • Assign students to patients and clinical tasks according to their competency levels and learning goals.
  • Conduct daily clinical discussions (1-hour guided learning) to review patient cases, clinical experiences, and challenges.
  • Assess students’ clinical competencies and practical performance using observation and structured assessment tools.
  • Monitor and evaluate students’ professionalism, communication, and teamwork in real clinical environments.
  • Assist in the development of clinical guidelines, procedural checklists, and evaluation rubrics.
  • Support lecturers in clinical demonstrations and practical training.
  • Collaborate with the OSCE Coordinator in preparing OSCE stations and serve as an OSCE examiner.
  • Participate in curriculum reviews to improve the clinical training components.

4. Marketing and Sales Executive

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compile data and follow up closely on all enquiries from walk-ins, email, calls and leads from marketing activities in a prompt and effective manner.
  • Provide counselling and careful explanation (face-to face or via other media) on education guidance to prospective and in-house students and/or on all MPI programmes and education pathways.
  • Asist prospective students and guardians/parents to be informed on available education fund or loans.
  • Plan and carry out branding and student recruitment activities, such as open days, industry engagement, school fairs, education fairs, workshops and other marketing activities.
  • Conduct surveys, brochures, banners, online posters and other forms of promotional channels for marketing and sales purposes.
  • Enhance brand awareness via social media platforms as well as printed materials.

Requirements:

  • At least a graduate in Business Management / Marketing / International Business or other management-related disciplines.
  • Result oriented with pro-active attitude, pleasant personality with good communication and written skills in English, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Willing to work beyond normal working hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Able to travel as and when required.

5. Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Early Intervention (special needs children)

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach Early Childhood Education and related subjects to diploma and degree students within the ECE department, as allocated by and reviewed by the Head of Department.
  • Assist in the management of existing and future academic programs (diploma, degree) under the direction of Department.
  • Assist in the supervision of students in academic matters and provide support to students as needed.
  • Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of Early Childhood programmes.
  • Participate in the development, administration, and grading of examinations and other assessments.
  • Participate in the administration of the department’s programs of study and other related activities as required.
  • Conduct project, research, produce publications, and participate in departmental and faculty seminars to share research outcomes and promote interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.
  • Participate in the administration of the department’s programs of study and other related activities as required.
  • Maintain professional development through continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends.
  • Responsible for establishing and developing the Early Intervention and Inclusive Education program within the Early Childhood Education setting under MPI ECE department management.

Requirements:

  • The candidate must possess a Master’s degree in Early Intervention or Special Needs Education.
  • A minimum of 2 years of working experience in a related discipline is required for the Early Intervention position.
  • Ability to follow instructions and carry out duties as directed by superiors.
  • Strong teamwork skills. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proactive, able to take initiative, and remain calm when handling crises.

 

6. Gardener (Part time)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the garden in and around the whole Campus areas.
  • To perform landscaping, grass cutting, managing weed control, plant new plants, flowers, trees and various plants to beautify in and around the compound of the Campus. To remove dried leaves and rubbish from compound to maintain cleanliness.
  • To clean walking pathways around the Campus.
  • Maintain cleanliness of drains around the Campus.
  • Maintain tools and equipments.

Requirements:

  • SPM or equivalent with minimum one year of related experience.
  • Knowledge of plants and gardening techniques.
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills.
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Can work under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule as and when required.
