About 60 students from various colleges and universities in Malaysia and Taiwan participated in the Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) Ultimate Frisbee Indoor Hat 2026 on June 27, 2026, at Gelanggang Futsal Kampung Nangka.
A Hat Tournament is a format where participants are randomly assigned to teams, allowing players of different skill levels and backgrounds to compete together.
The event, which was organised by MPI Student Council in collaboration with MPI Falcons Ultimate Frisbee Club, aimed to bring fun to the game of frisbee, to promote an active lifestyle, make friends and to learn from other universities.
According to the organising chairperson, Enfa Ting Ying Juen, the participating colleges and universities include MPI, University of Technology Sarawak (UTS), Curtin University Malaysia, University of Technology MARA (UiTM), National Taiwan Sport University, Taylor’s University, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), and Swinburne University of Technology.
She said some members of the public also participated in the competition, which started at 8am and ended at 5pm.
“We hope to promote the spirit of sportsmanship, relieve stress and to promote the importance of fitness.
“The participants came from Limbang, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri, Kuching, Taiwan, Kuala Lumpur and Sibu. We had six teams and each team comprised 10 members,” she pointed out.
After the competition, advisors Susie Yeo and Dexter Tan, OC Enfa Ting, Odelia Tan from MPI Student Council and Ultimate Frisbee Club President Sii Jia Wen presented prizes to the winners.
There was also a lucky draw at the end of the programme.
