SIBU: Joey Tang, after completing her study at SMK Tung Hua decided to pursue a study of accounting as she sees that there is an increasing demand for more qualified accountants. “Accounting is a subject that can be applied in many areas of our lives. An Accountant is part of a large network of other professionals. So, there are more job opportunities in the market.” As Methodist Pilley Institute is well-known for accounting programmes, it is located at her hometown Sibu, it naturally became her first choice of higher learning institution for tertiary education. “MPI is a place full of human touch, as lecturers and college mates here mainly came from central region of Sarawak, especially Sibu. During study, whenever we encountered any problem, we would try our best to help each other by solving it together.” Joey believes that Team effort with her classmates and support from her family are the critical factors of her success.
After completion of Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Degree in Accounting at MPI, Joey has continued her study of the strategic professional level of ACCA qualification at MPI. Upon completion of the papers in ACCA, plus three years of relevant working experience, she will become a certified chartered accountant.
Joey Tang is now an Auditor at Hii King Hiong & Co. She expressed thanks to Methodist Pilley Institute for imparting her with the professional knowledge of accounting, so that she can excel in her workplace, for example, the evaluation of business performance, checking of income and expenditure, debts monitoring, and comparison of current data with previous accounting records and proper budget allocation. Despite her current role in accounting, Joey aspires to be an online business entrepreneur. With some online business experience derived from the past, Joey has discovered that she has a talent for sales and marketing, now her ambition is to create her own brand of products and service and bring like-minded people together to start an online business.
MPI Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Degree in Accounting is globally-recognized and encompasses a rigorous curriculum that provides future accountants with contemporary knowledge and practical skills in assisting organizations to make the best strategic decisions. Graduates will gain entry into the professional level of ACCA and CPA Australia. The course will also equip graduates to pursue further professional qualifications with CFA, CFP, CIMA, ICAEW, MIA.
