Diploma in Computer Science of Methodist Pilley Institute
Methodist Pilley Institute has offered Diploma in Computer Science Programme since 1991. As Computer science is the most important discipline of computing, the programme focuses on the study of information processes and creating computer programmes. It involves writing code and applying complex algorithms to design computer software and models, solve computing problems and also create new ways to use technology. The principal areas of study within the diploma in Computer Science include artificial intelligence, computer systems and networks, cybersecurity, database systems, human computer interaction, vision and graphics, numerical analysis, programming languages, software engineering, and theory of computing.
Computer Science is a very good major that’s incredibly useful and will give you the opportunity to build things that are shaping the world and being used by millions of people. And you’ll be very well-paid doing it. Among all the area of computing, two of them are the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence which are shaping our future lifestyle. The internet of things, or IoT, is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers (UIDs) and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. Whereas Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions, in other words, any machine that exhibits traits associated with a human mind such as learning and problem.
The department of Computer Science of Methodist Pilley Institute will regularly organize workshops such as IoT and Artificial Intelligence to help them develop further develop their expertise in computing-related fields. In the IoT workshop, the lecturer will introduce the use of Raspberry Pi and sensor devices. In addition, data acquisition and processing with a cloud database (ie, Firebase) as well as visualization features are introduced in this workshop. Whereas in Artificial Intelligence workshop, the lecturers will introduce Machine Learning using Anaconda and Jupyter Notebook as the development environments. In this workshop, students will learn how to create a simple classification model to distinguish images of digits 0 to 9, as well as images of cats and dogs using a deep learning algorithm. Through these type of workshops, the students of Diploma in Computer Science will acquire skills such as analytical skills, problem-solving skills, creativity, critical-thinking skil ls and resilience.

The minimum entry requirement of MPI Diploma in Computer Science Programme is SPM 3C (including Modern Maths), or UEC 3B (including Maths). It takes about two and a half years to complete the entire course with a tuition fee of RM17010. The upcoming date of intake is August 14th. 毕理学院自1991年始开办电脑科学文凭课程。 做为电脑系的一门做重要的学科，毕理学院电脑科学文凭课程着重于研究信息过程和编写电脑程序。 它涉及编写代码并应用复杂的计算法来设计计算机软件和模型，以解决计算问题。 课程的学习领域包括人工智能，计算机系统和网络，电脑保安，数据库系统，人机交流互动，视觉和图形设计，数值分析，编程语言，软件工程，和计算理论。
电脑科学是一门非常实用的专业，学生可应用所掌握的技能，构建一个可以改变全世界人类生活，并被数以百万计的人使用的事物，而其中两项就是物联网和人工智能。所谓的物联网，就是把所有的东西都连在一起，所以叫做「Internet of Things ，简称为IoT」，意思就是「所有东西的网际网路」。 它不只是把东西串起一个网路而己，更重要的是要让设备和设备之间可以互相交换资料并沟通，让人类的生活更加的自动化和方便。人工智能（英语：Artificial Intelligence，缩写为AI），是指由人制造出来的机器所表现出来的智能，也通过普通电脑程式来呈现人类智能的技术。
毕理学院的电脑科学系的学生，除了例常的课程学习，校方也会特别安排一系列的工作坊，如物联网和人工智能课程。在物联网课程里，讲师会使用Raspberry Pi和传感器设备教导学生，学生将学会使用云数据库（即Firebase）进行的数据采集和处理，及认识其可视化功能。在人工智能课程里，讲师将介绍使用Anaconda和Jupyter Notebook作为开发环境的机器学习，学生将有机会使用深度学习算法创建了一个简单的分类模型，以区分数字0到9的图像以及猫和狗的图像。通过这类的培训，电脑科学专业的学生将更好的掌握分析和解決問題的能力、創造力、批判性思維能力。
