SIBU: Dominic Hu Khie Yeen, after completing SPM at SMK Tung Hua, decided to pursue a study ACCA qualification at MPI because the qualification is highly regarded by his family members who are doing businesses. MPI became his choice of institution for study because of its good reputation in accounting programs & the campus is very close to his house, so it is both cost-saving and convenient to traveling for study. Dominic shared “The factors that contributed to the success of my study at MPI are determination, commitment, hard work and faith in God to make it happens.”

SIBU: Joey Tang, after completing her study at SMK Tung Hua decided to pursue a study of accounting as she sees that there is an increasing demand for more qualified accountants. “Accounting is a subject that can be applied in many areas of our lives. An Accountant is part of a large network of other professionals. So, there are more job opportunities in the market.” As Methodist Pilley Institute is well-known for accounting programmes, it is located at her hometown Sibu, it naturally became her first choice of higher learning institution for tertiary education. “MPI is a place full of human touch, as lecturers and college mates here mainly came from central region of Sarawak, especially Sibu. During study, whenever we encountered any problem, we would try our best to help each other by solving it together.” Joey believes that Team effort with her classmates and support from her family are the critical factors of her success.

SIBU: Sarah Lau Shi Yan, after completing SPM Qualification at SMK Bandar Bintulu, decided to pursue her study in accounting at Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI). She first started with Diploma in Accounting, then currently on her way to complete Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Accounting. Sarah shares what drove her decision, “I chose to study in the accounting program as the accounting field offers a wide array of career options, from auditing, tax accounting, and cost accounting to managerial accounting, with several professional certifications for each. Besides, MPI also provided an ACCA course, which is a global body for professional accountants with Gold Approved Learning Partner.”
MPI Diploma in Taxation student Grace Wong Sie Kee
SIBU: Grace Wong Sie Kee, after graduating from SMK Kanowit with SPM qualifications, has decided to take the Diploma in Taxation course at MPI because this programme can prepare her for careers as tax consultants in the tax preparation and financial planning industries. Taxation is important to the functioning of any economy, usually bringing in most of the revenue a government will have available to use. It typically involves several key skills, including legal interpretation and analysis, calculations, and providing advice. There is an increasing demand for tax consultants in the market, so studying taxation gives her better employment prospects.

SIBU: Aaron Tan Wee Wee, after graduating with SPM qualifications from SMK Tung Hua in 2020, continued to pursue a Diploma in Business Management. The primary reason is his aspiration to be an entrepreneur. Studying business management can help him develop skills such as leadership, communication, and problem-solving—the skills and knowledge needed to start and manage the whole business, including people. With a genuine interest in the field of business, Aaron then decided to take a diploma in business management as part of the pursuit of his career ambition.
