Chief Executive Officer’s Message
Shalom! As the new addition to the big MPI family, it is my greatest pleasure to welcome you to get to know MPI and her years of dedication in uplifting the community of Sibu and beyond through affordable high quality tertiary education. The campus buildings, alumni and the accolades are the testimonies of the hard work, perseverance and sacrifices of my predecessors and my colleagues who have shared the core missions and vision of MPI.
MPI has a long history and tradition of bridging the gaps between education attainments and financial constraints; a great hurdle for many families who desire to break away from the vicious cycle of income traps due to the increasing emphasis on education and financial security.
Since setting foot in Sibu in 1949, Mr. and Mrs. John Pilley had strived in their own poverty and strife to provide shelter to orphans and underprivileged families through free education – from kindergarten to tertiary education. Through them, many lives and families have been blessed. Their legacy continues to shape our mission today.
In line with our government’s mandate to strengthen the higher education ecosystem in Malaysia, MPI was formally set up as a private higher education service provider in 1991. It has since produced 3444 graduates who went on to chart their own success stories in fields such as accounting, education, social work, computing and so on.
As we are approaching the 35th anniversary milestone, we in MPI are reminded to stay focused on the goal of delivering high quality yet affordable education through the various fundings and trusts bestowed upon us by our donors.
