Teaching & Learning and Assessment for Sem 1, 2021

As announced by the MOHE on 31 Jan 2021, 6 categories of students are allowed to return to campus from 01 Mar 2021 onwards. However, as confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sibu are still high, we shall continue with online teaching & learning and formative assessments for the time being.

If the number of confirmed cases shows significant reduction in the next two weeks, we will consider to get students who fall under the 6 categories permitted by MOHE to return after 15 Mar (the 8th week of the semester). Otherwise, we shall keep to online teaching & learning and assessment till the end of the semester. We will make a decision by 2 Mar so that all staff & students can be informed in due time.

However, there is a small group of students who are (1) facing serious internet issues, e.g. Penan girls; (2) needing to have hands-on practices, e.g. PC Maintenance; (c) sitting for external exams, e.g. ACCA; and/or (d) having to complete their practicum in order to fulfill graduation requirements will be identified by respective HODs, and will receive notification letters individually. They will then use the letter to apply for traveling permits from police stations in their respective hometowns to allow them to come back (flow-chart as attached).

Our guiding principle is to minimize movements of students unless necessary. Of course, we wish to resume F-2-F classes soonest possible. But for the health & safety of all, we have to opt for the less-than-ideal option. Thank you for your understanding, and for going the extra mile to ensure students learn.
