Applicants must have a minimum of 3 credits in SPM/ SM3 examination or its equivalent from either Science, Art or Commerce streams. SPM leavers must fulfil the general passing requirement with a pass in Bahasa Malaysia and History.

Computer Science applicants should have a credit in Maths and Science.

Forecast results can be used to enrol in the January Intake.

Methodist Pilley Institute offers Scholastic Awards to eligible students as a reward for academic excellence.

Diploma & CAT

  1. Applicants must be accepted as full-time students or are currently enrolled as full time students at Methodist Pilley Institute i.e enrolled for minimum 12 credit hours (long semester) and minimum 6 credit hours (short semester).

  4. Students who qualified for the Scholarship need to submit their applications every long semester.
  5. The Scholarship is presented on semester basis, i.e., the tuition fee remission is only effective for one semester.
  6. The Scholarship is only offered in January & July semesters (except for students who register in May semester). Consideration for Jan semester is based on results in previous semester’s results, whereas consideration for July semester is based on overall results in Jan & May semesters (except for new students who registered in May semester).
  7. Recipients who fail to meet the requirements for the subsequent semesters will be automatically disqualified from the Scholarship. However, they may apply again at a later date by meeting the academic requirements stated.
  8. Scholarship recipients will be required to take part in MPI organised activities such as Open Day, Career Fair, promotional activities, student self study session, seminars as and when required by the Institute.
  9. In the event that the recipient withdraws from the programme, is suspended or expelled by the Institute, at any point of time before completing the programme, this Scholarship will automatically be revoked.
  10. This Scholarship is valid ONLY for the duration of the programme enrolled.
  11. This Scholarship is not transferable or redeemable for cash and applies to tuition fee ONLY.
  12. Methodist Pilley Institute reserves the right to amend any of the terms and conditions of this Scholarship at any point in time and when it is deemed necessary by the Institute.

Entrance Scholarship

  1. The MPI Entrance Scholarship is open to students with good academic results, good character and/or outstanding achievements in or out of their school context.
  2. Applicants must be the accepted full time MPI students, and have already submitted their application for Admissions and paid the application fees and deposit.

  5. Applicants must display admirable character and leadership qualities, and to practice exemplary behaviours among peers.
  6. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview conducted in English by a panel from the Scholarship Committee.
  7. The Scholarship will be disbursed on a semester by semester basis and will be auto-set off against tuition fee for the semester.
  8. To maintain the Scholarship, the recipient is required to achieve a minimum GPA of 3.50/4.00 in the previous semester and attain a minimum of 12 credit hours during the long semester (6 credit hours during the short semester). All scholarship recipients are also expected to display good character traits and participate actively in the activities organized by the Institute.
  9. In the event that the recipient withdraws from the programme, is suspended or expelled by the Institute, at any point of time, before the completion of the programme, or is not able to maintain the required academic achievement as stated under item 7 of the terms and conditions, this Scholarship will automatically be revoked.
  10. The Institute reserves the right to involve recipients in interviews, advertisements, photography or other publicity related activities for the purpose of promotion.
  11. Acceptance of Scholarship application is subject to terms and conditions as well as pre-determined quota set by the Institute. Applicants are not guaranteed approval of the scholarships upon fulfilling the conditions met.
  12. This Scholarship is valid ONLY for the duration of the programme enrolled.
  13. This Scholarship is not transferable or redeemable for cash and applies to tuition fee ONLY.

Alumni Scholarship

  1. This need-based scholarship is available to students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Alumni Scholarships Programme.
  2. Students with good academic results and who display admirable character and leadership qualities will be given prior consideration.
  3. Applicants must be/ have been accepted as full time students at Methodist Pilley Institute, before they can be considered for this Scholarship.
  4. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview by a panel from the Scholarship Committee, if requested.
  5. The Scholarship will be disbursed on a one-off basis as determined by the Scholarship Committee and is not transferable.
  6. Acceptance of Scholarship application is subjected to terms and conditions as well as pre-determined quota set by the Scholarship Committee. Applicants are not guaranteed approval of the scholarships upon fulfilling the conditions met.
  7. This Scholarship is valid ONLY for the duration of the programme enrolled.
  8. The successful recipient is eligible for the scholarship ONCE only in a year. Recipients may apply for the scholarship the following year, however, they will be subjected to the same application process and terms and conditions therein. Applicants will not be given automatic/guaranteed approval.
  9. The Persatuan Alumni Institut Methodist Pilley reserves the right to involve recipients in interviews, advertisements, photography or other publicity related activities for the purpose of promotion.
  10. The Committee reserves the right to amend any of the terms and conditions of this Scholarship at any point in time and when it is deemed necessary.

PTPTN Loan

PERBADANAN TABUNG PENDIDIKAN TINGGI NASIONAL (PTPTN)

Loan Eligibility Requirement

  1. Malaysian Citizen;
  2. Aged not exceeding 45 years on the date of application;
  3. Get offers to IPTA / IPTS and Polytechnics by fulfilling the entry qualification requirements set by the Ministry of Education Malaysia and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA);
  4. The courses attended by IPTA / IPTS students and Polytechnics must be approved by the Ministry of Education and registered with PTPTN; *
  5. For IPTS students, the courses to be followed must obtain the Certificate of Accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and are still within the validity period of the application date;
  6. For students who have different qualifications of verification must be obtained from the department or agency as stated above;
  7. The remaining period of study at the time of application must be not less than one (1) year;
  8. No other sponsors;
  9. Has opened SSPN1M-i ** account.

MPI Loan

In the event PTPTN is granted but does not meet applicant’s academic expenses, students can apply for the yearly MPI study loan. Subject to approval, this loan is open for full time students only.

SCAC Loan

This loan provided by SCAC (Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference) is available for members or members’ children of the Methodist churches in Sarawak. A loan of RM 3,000 (for local Higher Institutes/ Universities) and RM 5,000 (for overseas tertiary education) will be granted to successful applicants without interest. Applicants must pay back the loan in monthly or quarterly installments after their graduation.
