Scholastic Awards Replaced by Principal’s Awards

With effect from 1 June 2025, the criteria of MPI’s Scholastic Awards are revised as follows:

  • Scholastic Awards will be known as Principal’s Award. This award is given out semesterly
  • The Principal’s Award is awarded to students who achieve outstanding academic performance meeting the following criteria:
    1. Full-time students taking a minimum of 5 subjects (min. 15 credit hours) per semester during a long semester and a minimum of 3 subjects (min. 9 credit hours) during a short semester.
    2. Achieved a minimum GPA of ≥3.67.
    3. Free of any disciplinary issues or academic misconduct throughout the period of studies.

The Principal’s Awards entitles recipients to the following:

    1. A Certificate of Recognition.
    2. Discount vouchers of RM300 (GPA of 3.67), RM400 (GPA of 3.80) and RM500 (GPA of 4.00) for tuition fee rebate in subsequent semester.
    3. In the event, it is last semester for final year students, the “Chairman’s Awards” will be presented to the students, and such vouchers are redeemable for cash.
    4. The Chairman’s Award recipient shall be the candidate of the valedictorian of that graduation ceremony.

Entrance Scholarship

    1. The MPI Entrance Scholarship is open to students with good academic results, good character and/or outstanding achievements in or out of their school context.
    2. Applicants must be the accepted full time MPI students, and have already submitted their application for Admissions and paid the application fees and deposit.
    3. Applicants must fulfil at least one of the following academic requirements:

  1. Applicants must display admirable character and leadership qualities, and to practice exemplary behaviours among peers.
  2. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview conducted in English by a panel from the Scholarship Committee.
  3. The Scholarship will be disbursed on a semester by semester basis and will be auto-set off against tuition fee for the semester.
  4. To maintain the Scholarship, the recipient is required to achieve a minimum GPA of 3.50/4.00 in the previous semester and attain a minimum of 12 credit hours during the long semester (6 credit hours during the short semester). All scholarship recipients are also expected to display good character traits and participate actively in the activities organized by the Institute.
  5. In the event that the recipient withdraws from the programme, is suspended or expelled by the Institute, at any point of time, before the completion of the programme, or is not able to maintain the required academic achievement as stated under item 7 of the terms and conditions, this Scholarship will automatically be revoked.
  6. The Institute reserves the right to involve recipients in interviews, advertisements, photography or other publicity related activities for the purpose of promotion.
  7. Acceptance of Scholarship application is subject to terms and conditions as well as pre-determined quota set by the Institute. Applicants are not guaranteed approval of the scholarships upon fulfilling the conditions met.
  8. This Scholarship is valid ONLY for the duration of the programme enrolled.
  9. This Scholarship is not transferable or redeemable for cash and applies to tuition fee ONLY.

Alumni Scholarship

    1. This need-based scholarship is available to students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Alumni Scholarships Programme.
    2. Students with good academic results and who display admirable character and leadership qualities will be given prior consideration.
    3. Applicants must be/ have been accepted as full time students at Methodist Pilley Institute, before they can be considered for this Scholarship.
    4. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview by a panel from the Scholarship Committee, if requested.
    5. The Scholarship will be disbursed on a one-off basis as determined by the Scholarship Committee and is not transferable.
    6. Acceptance of Scholarship application is subjected to terms and conditions as well as pre-determined quota set by the Scholarship Committee. Applicants are not guaranteed approval of the scholarships upon fulfilling the conditions met.
    7. This Scholarship is valid ONLY for the duration of the programme enrolled.
    8. The successful recipient is eligible for the scholarship ONCE only in a year. Recipients may apply for the scholarship the following year, however, they will be subjected to the same application process and terms and conditions therein. Applicants will not be given automatic/guaranteed approval.
    9. The Persatuan Alumni Institut Methodist Pilley reserves the right to involve recipients in interviews, advertisements, photography or other publicity related activities for the purpose of promotion.
    10. The Committee reserves the right to amend any of the terms and conditions of this Scholarship at any point in time and when it is deemed necessary.

MPI Education Fund

Terms and Conditions:

    1. Applicants must be accepted as full-time students or are currently enrolled as full-time students at Methodist Pilley Institute.
    2. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview conducted in English by a panel appointed by the MPI Education Fund Management Committee.
    3. To maintain the Scholarship, the recipient is required to achieve minimum academic standard stated in the agreement during the course of studies and maintain a minimum of 12 credit hours during the long semester (6 credit hours during the short semester).
    4. All scholarship recipients are also expected to display good character traits and participate actively in the activities organized by the Institute.
    5. In the event that the recipient withdraws from the programme, is suspended or expelled by the Institute, at any point of time, before the completion of the programme, or is not able to maintain the required academic achievement as stated in the agreement, this Scholarship shall automatically be revoked.
    6. Acceptance of Scholarship application is subjected to terms and conditions as well as pre-determined quota set by the Institute. Applicants are not guaranteed approval of the scholarships upon fulfilling the conditions met.
    7. This Scholarship is valid ONLY for the duration of the programme enrolled.
    8. The Institute reserves the right to amend any of the terms and conditions of this Scholarship at any point in time and when it is deemed necessary by the Institute.
