Financial Aids: PTPTN Loan

PTPTN

Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) was established under Akta Perbadanan Tabung Pedidikan Nasional on 01 July 1997. PTPTN provides loans to students studying at registered higher learning institutions in the country.

Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI), as one of the pioneer private higher learning institutions in the state of Sarawak, is one of the earliest Institutions to be granted approval for its students to benefit from PTPTN loans. Qualified MPI students may obtain a loan of up to RM5,000/year for up to 3 years while studying at MPI.

Term of Conditions

PTPTN only offers education loans to students who meet the following criteria:

PTPTN does not entertain application forms sent in by individual applicants. Thus, application must be made through the Student Affairs Dept at MPI. S/he must be a Malaysian. S/he must pass SPM with at least 3 credits (including credit in Bahasa Malaysia). S/he must register with MPI to study one of the Diploma programs at MPI as a FULL TIME student. All applicants must meet the minimum entry requirements approved by Lembaga Akreditasi Negara (LAN) and Jabatan Pendidikan Swasta (JPS), Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia. Certified documents must be attached with each application to prove that the applicant has met the entry requirements set. S/he does not have other sponsor(s). If the applicant has obtained a loan from PTPTN and wishes to apply for a second loan, s/he must repay in full the first loan before applying for a new loan.

Application Procedures

All applications must be made through the Student Affairs Dept at MPI, and each application must be attached with certified copies of following documents:

Completed OMR form (can be obtained from PTPTN or MPI @ RM5.00/set).
Identity card.
Offer Letter from Methodist Pilley Institute.
SPM certificate / result slip, other relevant certificates / transcript / result slips, etc.
Proof of income of parents or guardians [Form J or Pengesahan Pendapatan Ibu/Bapa/Penjaga (PTPTN (PP) 1/99 Pin.1)].

PTPTN only processes application from each institute TWICE per semester. All completed applications must reach the Student Affairs Department before the following dates:

January intake	01 February / 01 March

June intake	01 July / 01 August

Students who are offered the loan must sign a contract with PTPTN and must maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.0 to be eligible to receive loan money.
